(A Note from Deb)
FIND YOUR VOICE!
As a pop and rock singer who eventually branched out into the Broadway world (working with Tony award-winning directors like Jerry Mitchell, Jerry Zaks and Richard Maltby Jr.), I had to learn how to maintain performing at the top of my game 8 shows a week. A singer is like an athlete. No baseball player or football player would think of going it alone! So, for over 25 years I have studied with some of the top voice specialists and acting teachers in New York City and I bring that strength of technique to my students. (One of my students was a Top 10 Finalist on the X Factor!)
You can enhance your range, sound and style of singing by developing a strong foundation in placement, breath control and balance between your registers.
Whether you're a pro or you just find joy in singing, I offer experience and guidance in building your skills in:
Vocal Technique
Stage performance
Song interpretation
Auditioning
Studio singing
I'm a proud member of SAG-AFTRA, AEA, AGVA and New York Singing Teachers Association.
I teach in Monmouth County, NJ and outside of that area, via Zoom, Facetime and Skype. For scheduling and rates please email me at DebLyonsMusic@gmail.com.
On singing….
In March 2020, Brian Willson (the drummer not the beach boy!) asked me to write an article about how I practice singing for his book. I’m so thrilled that “Notes From a Gig Girl” is included among the stories from all these wonderful musicians! Published in 2021, I urge you to read about how others pursue the solitary work of practicing and perfecting their craft. Thank you for including me, Brian!
